Can I Be A Diver? Yes, you can. The idea of breathing while actually underneath the water can be a bit intimidating at first. But with a little nose for adventure and a few hours of training, most people in good health can become confident divers; safe and competent ready to explore the world beneath the water. Beginner programs start at age 10 and yet your never too old. Here is a copy of the medical form you will have to fill out. |
Why.... SUNKEN TREASURE ?
Sunken Treasure Scuba Center has been in the business of teaching scuba diving to area residents for over Twenty-Seven years, full time. You can start Today!! We use the PADI System of diver education from entry-level through PADI Instructor, with many rewarding stops along the way. These experiences include Wreck Diver, Deep Diver, Underwater Photographer, Equipment Specialist, Underwater Vehicle Operator and many more. We employ the areas finest PADI Professionals, many of whom are experts in their respective fields. We offer plenty to do once you are certified, including instructor escorted vacations, weekend getaways, local dives and club meetings. Our Professional Staff includes 5 instructors, 4 Assistant Instructors and 4 Divemasters to assist you in your fun-filled future as a recreational scuba diver.
What Does It Take?
To become a full-fledged diver, you must take a certification course from a qualified instructor licensed by one of the national scuba training agencies. Most courses run once a week for a few weeks or weekends. However a private course can be completed in as little time as a weekend. Part of that time will be spent getting to know more about diving, the underwater world and the animals that live there. The remainder of the time will be spent using scuba gear in confined water, learning the few basic skills you'll need to begin diving. At the end of the course, your instructor will give a short written review to make sure you have the knowledge you need to have fun. Then you'll make a series of open-water dives with the instructor to fine-tune the skills you learned in the pool and get comfortable diving in open water.
What Do I Need?
With all of our courses the student is required to provide their own mask, snorkel and fins.
What Does STSC Provide?
We provide the classroom, pool and all other diving equipment necessary to complete the course.
What Do I Need The First Night?
All you need the first night is a swim suit, towel, pencil or pen and your course fee. For those people who do not have their own mask, snorkel or fins, don't worry. The first night our instructor will teach you how to purchase these items, besides you don't need these items until the second night of class, so you can place a order with the instructor to save time.
What additional fees are there?
Because students receive a student referral and can do their open water training dives elsewhere (the islands or at home for the college students), the four open water dives needed to become a certified diver are not included.
The training fees for our students are $30.00/dive from June 1st thru August 31st. The rest of the year we charge $40.00/dive for scheduled dives.
